At the China-Singapore Investment Forum & Signing for SIP China-Singapore Cooperation Projects held on Nov 25, 26 projects were signed to promote two-way investment between China and Singapore in biomedicine, professional services, digital economy, green development and other fields. These projects are expected to help accelerate SIP’s development towards an open and innovative world-class high-tech park.

Jane Lim, deputy secretary (trade) at the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) of Singapore, Tan Boon Khai, CEO of JTC Corporation, Shen Mi, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Suzhou Committee and secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee, and other guests attended the event.

As the first inter-governmental cooperation project between China and Singapore, SIP is now home to over 400 Singaporean enterprises, and the actual use of investment from Singapore has exceeded US$4.9 billion.

Concurrently, a large number of Chinese enterprises in SIP are accelerating international development through the channels and platforms provided under China-Singapore cooperation.

Among the new projects are seven major cooperation projects including the China-Singapore Sustainable Estate Joint Innovation Workshop, the project under the extended cooperation based on NUS (Suzhou) Research Institute and the second phase of A*STAR Partners’ Centre. There are also nine projects to be invested in SIP by Singaporean enterprises, and 10 to be set up in Singapore by Chinese enterprises.

Additionally, a number of projects under cooperation between Singaporean enterprises and SIP-based enterprises, including the one between Qichacha and OCBC Bank, were announced.

Keppel, a Singaporean asset manager and operator, is participating in the development of the China-Singapore Green Digital Hub in SIP.

“We hope that an indicator system for green and low-carbon projects will be established based on the development of the China-Singapore Green Digital Hub, and that it can be rolled out across SIP and even to countries and regions along the Belt and Road,” said an executive at the company.

The forum highlighted the role of SIP in promoting China-Singapore cooperation. Looking into the future, SIP strives to further expand cooperation with Singaporean partners in two-way investment, sci-tech innovation, trade in services, digital economy, green development, urban management and other aspects.
